Other Rallying Related Stuff

Along with the lights, the car is currently being kitted out with some other Historic Rallying bits 'n' bobs. Among these will be:

  • New (used!) boot lid, already gone in for paint, to mount a spare wheel carrier on


  • Map Light inside


  • Retrotrip Tripmeter (still need to save up for this!):















I'm undecided as to whether to keep the Rostyles on or put a set of Minilites on that I have... Perhaps I'll keep the 'lites for when I'm road rallying.

Anyway, must go now and get my spotlights angled correctly!

Many hands make light work!



Well, had a busy(ish!) couple of days in the garage, wiring and fitting 2 Period Lucas SLR700s Flamethrower Driving Lamps.

They have been wired so that they come on with the Main Beam, but this can be over-ridden with a switch which I've mounted oni the dash (also period Lucas!).

The difficult thing to find was replacement bulbs. I spent 2 hours the night before last searching for some, as the ones the lamps came withwere bodged beyond belief. £30 later, 2 bulbs arrived in the post the next day. I opened the package to find that one of the bulbs had been smashed in transit!

I'm currently waiting for http://www.holden.co.uk/ to get back to me on that one.. I currently have one lamp that's dimmer than the other!

Anyway, I can now see much better in the dark! Let's just hope the dynamo can keep up with them...!

Welcome!

Well, this is my first time writing a blog, so give me a chance to settle in!

This (quite obviously!) is a blog about keeping my 1970 MG Midget on the road!

Well, I bought the car on 31st March from a guy in St Helens. Since then, the car has had a vareity of things, including a new clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder. On a less serious note, it's also had a new headlamp, fan belt, and a couple of other bits 'n' bobs.

Anyway, I'll try and keep this thing updated!
